How do you make a triangle in Adobe Illustrator? If you’re working in Illustrator there is a chance you will need to create perfect triangles once in a while. This should be an easy task if Adobe Illustrator had a triangle tool. Unfortunately there is no triangle tool in Illustrator. So how does one go about making a perfect equilateral triangle? I will show you two simple ways to go about creating a perfect equilateral triangle in Adobe Illustrator.

1. Select the Polygon Tool

In your tool palette select the polygon tool as shown below.

2. Click Once on the Artboard

By clicking once on the artboard, you will open the polygon options window.

3. Get Rid of Extra Sides

With the polygon options window open, select 3 sides and click the OK button.

Result… Perfect Equilateral Triangle!

You can create a triangle by applying these same steps using the star tool.

1. Select the Triangle Tool

In your tool palette select the star tool as shown below.

2. Click Once on the Artboard

By clicking once on the artboard, you will open the star options window.

3. Get Rid of Extra Points

With the star options window open, select 3 points and click the OK button.
